Cate Blanchett won the Oscar for Best Actress for her work in "Blue Jasmine" this year, a well-deserved win for an incredible performance. Her speech was so gracious, calling out her fellow nominees individually and acknowledging each of their performances and what they meant to her.

She ended by thanking the distribution team behind "Blue Jasmine," who crafted a very smart roll-out that built an audience and stayed in theaters longer than anyone expected. And then, she noted, to cheers and applause:

"Those in the industry who are still foolishly clinging to the idea that female films, with women at the center, are niche experiences. They are not. Audiences want to see them. And in fact, they earn money. The world is round, people!"

Smart lady.
